In Strategic Stakeholder Engagement, a good strategy is inextricably linked to careful analysis. But how do you translate an SSE analysis into a workable strategy that provides direction and is embraced? In the From Analysis to Strategy (FATS) training, you will learn how to arrive at a practically applicable SSE strategy that aligns with the complexity of your project.
This training is offered exclusively in-company.
What you are going to do
According to SSE, no good strategy is possible without careful prior analysis. It is important to have insight into the issues at hand, the stakeholder landscape, and the role of trust, power, and tension. In practice, however, the step from analysis to strategy often proves difficult. How do you arrive at an action plan that stakeholders can say “yes” to, even when interests are significant and mutual trust is low?
During this in-depth one-day training, you will learn how to develop a concrete and actionable SSE strategy from a SSE analysis. We will use the "From Analysis to Strategy" (FATS) model. Marc Wesselink, author of SOM Handbook 2.0. You will work on your own case or that of a colleague and discuss with the trainers their own SSE work practice and the examples that arise from it.
At the end of the day, you will have insight into the various tools needed to create a strategy that provides direction, is executable, and aligns with the dynamics of the environment.
For whom it is
This training is intended for professionals who work with complex tasks and are responsible for developing or refining a stakeholder engagement strategy. The training is suitable for situations where an SSE analysis has been conducted, but the translation into a concrete strategy still raises questions.
Completing the Basic SSE Training is a requirement for participation in this advanced training day.

At WesselinkVanZijst, we work on the complex societal challenges of the present day. Our trainers are therefore strongly embedded in the daily practice of SSE: they are involved in societal changes with high stakes, acting as strategic stakeholder engagement professionals, process facilitators, or negotiation experts. For the past fifteen years, our consultants have, in addition to guiding organizations and professionals through complex societal issues, trained 5,000 colleagues and are currently delivering around 100 training sessions annually in the Netherlands and abroad. For all our training courses, we utilize the didactic philosophy of the SSE Academy.
As developers of the SSE method, we are also actively involved in the further development of the field on a daily basis through publications and podcasts, among other things. In this, we work closely with our knowledge partners, including the Global Network of the Consensus Building Institute (CBI) and the Dutch Mutual Gains Network. In the Netherlands, we provide modules within training programs for the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and the AOG School of Management.
