Fleur Ravensbergen

Peacemaker

Fleur Ravensbergen is a peace mediator, an expert in conflict mediation and negotiation, and an author. She is the founder of Bureau Ontwapend, a social enterprise that mediates public conflicts in the Netherlands.

Fleur is also a co-founder of the Dialogue Advisory Group (DAG), an Amsterdam-based NGO that mediates in armed conflict. Until 2023, Fleur mediated on behalf of DAG in armed conflicts worldwide, such as Iraq and the Democratic Republic of Congo. She achieved two disarmaments (one in Northern Ireland with a splinter group of the IRA in 2010 and one with ETA in the Basque Country in 2017). In 2022, her book ‘Ontwapend’ (Disarmed) about her experiences as a peace mediator was published. She also teaches conflict mediation at the University of Amsterdam.

As a trainer, she shares inspiring stories about her experiences in war zones, linking them to models and analytical tools within themes relevant to SOM professionals. She addresses topics such as conflict mediation, personal leadership, negotiation, and the balance between empathy and assertiveness with participants, with strength, vulnerability, and a passion for the profession in all its facets. Her goal is to unravel individual, concrete tools that help each of us take the next step in our profession.
